We visited Iceblink yesterday. She is one of the Blue Heron Construction sister luggers built 20 to 25 years ago. The photos show a lot of details that will be useful in finishing our boat.
Things to note include:
- The rudder collar and oarlocks need to be beefed up as both had cracked over time.
- The boat can be difficult to bail quickly once swamped, so a good bilge pump is vital
- The positioning of the stern oarlock for sculling is nice, but maybe low unless a curved Chinese style Yuloh oar is used.
Most of the rigging seemed to match the plans that we have, simplifying our installation.
